Roller Coaster Going Up
Not too long ago, I was getting sick of the roller coaster in the markets.

And now, we appear to be roaring back upwards after seven months of declines.
I don’t know what this means. Nobody seems to know what it means. Is the bear market over? Are we heading for a soft landing? The economy will be OK?
Let’s look at some of my recent purchases and where they stand as of today:
- ZWB, purchased July 29, up 2.4%
- ZWC, purchased July 29, up 1.1%
- ZWP, purchased July 29, up 1.7%
- ZPR, purchased July 29, up 3.5%
- INTC, purchased July 22, down 12.3% (damn, Intel!)
- JPM, purchased July 22, up 2.3%
- TROW, purchased July 22, up 3.8%
- IFN, purchased July 16, up 6.7%
- FNGS, purchased May 27, up 9.3%
Everyone is a genius in a bull market.

I am not a genius. I probably could have purchased anything and been up.
I have been fortunate to have deployed 15% of my investable assets in July, 5% in June, and another 10% in May.
Also, I am not a day trader. So these short-term moves shouldn’t matter to me. Are these good companies/funds, and will I be happy owning them for ten years?
I’m mostly trying to generate income with some capital appreciation to protect my total capital.
So far, so good.
