My Top 5 Investments By ROI (Current Holdings)

Without further ado, here are the top five holdings in my portfolio based on their total investment return since I bought them.

#1. GALP

At the start of the Russian war with Ukraine, there was some concern about gas supplies in Europe. Through some weird luck, I bought Galp. It has been up 116% since then, including dividends paid.

Of course, I wish I put every dollar I had into this. But alas! It seemed like a gamble at the time.

#2. AXA

Around the same time I bought Galp above, I bought Axa. Axa is an insurance company. Insurance seems like a good product to me. I don’t actually remember why I bought this. It just seemed undervalued, based on its profits in comparison with its stock price. I’m up 54%, including dividends paid.

#3. American Express

I wanted to buy either Visa or Mastercard. But they just seemed too expensive! The P/E ratios on those were really high and I felt like I was buying something overpriced. In comparison, Amex was more fairly priced.

I’m up 47% on Amex, including dividends paid.

#4. Brookfield Office Properties Series GG Preferred Shares

I just posted about how nice the preferreds have been, and look at that – one of them is my fourth best returner.

#5. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (Accumulating)

I’m super happy with the way my various S&P 500 funds have been performing. And I’m happy that one of them made the top 5 list. This one is up 39% for me.

It’s easy to focus on my winners. It makes me feel good, certainly.

But in the next post, I’ll have a look at the losers.
