What Year Is This? HSBC 1.00% Fee

I have some money in HSBC, and I’m stuck at the moment.

I would LOVE to transfer that money from HSBC to another place (like a dedicated stock trading broker), but it’s proving challenging. The discount European stock broker I chose does not accept money transferred from where HSBC is located. It’s complicated.

HSBC has an Investment Center I can use, but the fees there are absolutely disgusting.

1% fee for buying funds on their site! No ability to buy stocks. (Luckily, no fee for selling funds.)

I hate this. I should be able to buy anything I want, for any amount, for $8.

Anyway, I decided to invest the money (and swallow the 1% fee). I bought some funds in the Middle East, India, and Global Technology.

Not thrilled right now. But it’s just sitting there. I don’t mind holding these for 5-10 years.
